The brief

Shane came to us with forty pieces and one requirement: the fabric had to read at thumbnail size. That rules out most of the tricks a fashion shoot leans on. No deep shadow, no heavy grade, no styling that competes with the cloth.

How we lit it

• A large soft key at ninety degrees, close enough to wrap but far enough to keep a shadow edge — texture only exists where light falls across it.
• Black flags on the fill side, subtracting rather than adding, so weave stays visible instead of flattening out.
• A hair light at quarter power, purely to separate dark garments from a dark ground.

Every shot came off a tethered laptop with the client sitting beside it. By the time the last piece came off the rail, the selection was already made.

The set delivered in nine days: 240 frames, cut out, color-matched to a physical swatch, and sized for both the storefront and the printed catalog.
